Giant Mermaid Scale Number for Birthday Party

I prepared for my daughter’s 5th Birthday Party months in advance. We ended up having to cancel both her friend and family parties due to Covid. We still decorated the hell out of the house and had cake and presents. I think that was more than enough to make her happy!

I’ve had many people asking how I made the large mermaid scale number 5. Though time consuming, it was quite easy!

Dollhouse Renovation

The Dream

I have wanted to build a dollhouse since I was a teenager. I don’t know if you are aware, but dollhouse kits are not cheap. Then, you have to buy every single item to decorate the dollhouse; wallpaper, flooring, curtains, furniture. Needless to say, I never pursued the passion in my younger years but the thought of doing it in the future was always in the back of my mind

Fast forward to 2015 when I became pregnant with my sweet baby girl. I couldn’t help but think about creating a beautiful dollhouse for her to play with throughout her childhood. I imagined her taking this dollhouse when she moved out as an adult, and passing it on to her own children. Continue reading

Sweet Vintage Kitty Birthday

We threw around a lot of ideas for Quinn’s birthday party theme this year. At one point she wanted Word PartyThen, she wanted  Frozen. She changed her mind a few times and each time I deleted my current Pinterest board, and created a new one.

Quinn is pretty crazy about kitties. Or as she says, “titties”. (Yup) She was a kitty for Halloween.  So, I’m not sure why it took me so long to present her with the option of a kitty party.  She was on board. I was ecstatic because I knew this was likely the last birthday in which I’d have any input as to what the theme is. Continue reading

DIY: Kids’ Canvas Art

Our playroom was in need of some fun and color. So I picked up a two-pack of canvases from Michael’s craft store for $5 and let the kids do the rest. Asher, who is 7, used brushes and acrylic paints. I got out the Crayola finger paints for Quinn, who just turned 1.

I just love the way this turned out. Asher had a blast. But Quinn, apparently, is not a fan of the arts. She had a shit fit 3 swipes in. I washed her up and half-hour later tried again. The result was the same, but she got enough paint on the canvas to hang before she completely melted down.

I got the wooden letters to spell out “PLAY” from Target. I used acrylics to paint them and Loctite mounting putty to hang them.
